Spotlight on Coral Reefs

E-Current Photo Feature

Dear Friends,

Healthy coral reefs are among the world’s most spectacular and valuable natural resources. And while it’s true that reefs are highly threatened across the globe, we continue to be inspired by their unique and mysterious beauty.

In this edition of E-Current, we’re pleased to introduce a new bimonthly newsletter format called E-Current Photo. Focusing on the beauty of coral reefs and the creatures that depend on them, this visual exploration of our endangered coral reefs will remind us of what’s at stake.

Every other month, we’ll share some of the gorgeous coral reef images we’ve collected over the years, and also feature the winning photograph in our E-Current Photo contest. In the CORAL E-Current Photo Contest, you can submit your underwater images for a chance to win a copy of the incredible photography book, Reef by Scubazoo.

Continuing our focus on the beauty of coral reefs, we've added a new feature to our Web site. Award-winning underwater photographer Jeff Yonover has agreed to share his underwater photography tips with CORAL’s members. His first two columns are available to read online today.

You can read more about these exciting developments—and a press advisory that we released to the media late last week—below. Thanks again for your support of CORAL.

Brian Huse

Cheers,
Brian Huse
Executive Director

Save Coral Reefs It's Not Too Late to Save Coral Reefs
On October 31, CORAL responded to the release of a study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters that suggested it may be too late to save coral reefs. While we share the researchers' concern that our reefs are in trouble, CORAL's Conservation Programs Director Rick MacPherson is less pessimistic. Read the press release »
