If you’ll be in Washington, D.C., be sure to visit the museum before the exhibit closes on Labor Day—you’ll get to see in person some of the tools used by Coral Reef CSI investigators!

Photo Contest Winner Announced! Photo Contest Winner Announced!
Congratulations to Brandi Mueller of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, who is this month’s winner of the E-Current Photo Contest. Brandi captured this striking portrait of a longnose hawkfish (Oxycirrhites typus) in an area off the Kona coast where black coral—much of which has been removed for the jewelry industry—seems to be making a comeback and providing hawkfish habitat. Coral reef conservation is in fashion this summer! CORAL just listed a host of donated designer (and mostly) vintage clothing and accessories on eBay, including fashions from Oscar de la Renta, Cynthia Vincent, Victor Costa, san blas, and more. The best part: 100% of the sales from these beautiful and unique items will go directly to our coral reef conservation activities. So please, spread the word—and start shopping! Auctions end soon!

Once mature, these mangroves will help to protect both the coastline and the nearby coral reefs. We are happy to report that our seedlings are well on their way to providing those benefits, and local children are helping to expand the project. Read the story »
