"Although Bay Area composer John DeBorde is well-known for bringing a signature sensitivity to all of his compositions, his score for "The Coral Reef Alliance: What We Do," struck an emotional chord with the judges of the Telly Awards, a panel of advertising and production professionals who annually recognize the best in film and video productions, as well as local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs.

DeBorde's work was honored by the panel for the third time, this year with a Bronze Video award for his work with The Coral Alliance.

"For this particular score, I wanted to create a sense of world unity, so I combined instruments from a variety of cultures to symbolize people from around the world coming together to solve the problems that coral reefs face," said DeBorde, who is an avid SCUBA diver, as well as a musician and composer. "These instruments were also blended with some watery synthetic elements for the many underwater scenes in the film, which also lend to the cinematic quality of the music.""
