2 Plant a Tree

You don't have to have a green thumb to get involved in tree-planting campaign. The National Forest Foundation [2] plants a tree for every dollar you give, and with Eco-Libris [3], you can plant a tree for every book you read.

3 Take a Walk

Instead of driving to work like you usually do, why not take public transit, walk, bike, or join a carpool. Online services such as iCarpool [4] and eMotorpool [5] may help you find an environmentally friendly way to get to the office.

4 Eat Local

The average meal travels roughly 1,500 miles before it reaches your plate. Find farmers' markets, family farms, and other sources of sustainably grown food [6] in your area to support your local producers.

5 Display Your Activism

Join the "We Add Up [7]" organic t-shirt campaign to be counted in the fight to stop climate change. Each tee is custom hand-printed with a unique number. Your number represents your position in the worldwide count of people doing their part. Small changes make a big difference-and we add up.

6 Consider a Green Job

If you are facing a job hunt or a career change, consider looking at the green sector [8] to find a career that aligns your professional skills with your personal values.

7 Do Your Part

There are lots of ways to get involved in the protection of our planet, from supporting coral reef conservation and protecting the habitats of endangered species to participating in organized clean-ups of local outdoor spaces. 8 Bring Nature Back

If we don't spend much time in the outdoors, we forget how connected we are to the Earth. Attract nature to your doorstep by turning your backyard into a wildlife habitat [12].

9 Go to the Movies

Earth [13], the first film in the Disneynature series, opened nationwide on Earth Day. It tells the remarkable story of three animal families and their journey across the planet we all call home.

10 Spread the Word

Coral reefs cover less than 1 percent of the planet, but are essential for ocean health and support more than 500 million people worldwide. Share your passion for coral reefs with your friends and family members by sending them a colorful CORAL E-Card [14].
