The Respecting Coral Reefs sign project was designed to educate residents and visitors who visit popular coral reef locations in Hawaiʻi about proper reef etiquette. Composed of informative tips and colorful photographs, the interpretive signs are adopted by local businesses, agencies, organizations and individuals who fund the production and installation of the signs. The Adopt-a-Sign project has been so successful on the island of Maui that it was expanded throughout the state, with more than 50 signs installed to date.
