We are excited to see the impact of their voices and actions in protecting and preserving the world’s coral reefs.
Carissa Cabrera

Carissa is a marine biologist, conservation storyteller, and ocean climate advocate.
For the past 10 years, Carissa has focused on ocean recovery efforts related to endangered species, reef restoration, conservation financing, community outreach, and environmental literacy. She co-founded Futureswell, a conservation consultancy dedicated to advancing community-based ocean climate solutions alongside NGOs and coalitions through storytelling. Carissa’s work, company, and media projects are united by the shared goal of increasing pathways to ocean climate action and accelerating collective conservation solutions.
In recent years, Carissa has focused her efforts on supporting coral reefs through restoration and community education. Since coral reefs support 25% of marine life and are on the frontline of climate change, supporting reef health has cascading benefits to the rest of coastal ecosystem health. She fell in love with coral reefs as the first ecosystem she ever snorkeled as a child. Now, Carissa works to bring coral restoration to the public, in partnership with NGOs and as an ocean-focused content creator.

Kaushiik Subramaniam

Kaush is a wildlife conservation biologist, award-winning photographer, filmmaker, and ocean storyteller.
Kaush Subramaniam combines his wildlife conservation background with photography and filmmaking to tell stories about the natural world. His work has taken him across marine environments, from coral reefs to the open ocean, where he documents wildlife ranging from small reef species to whale sharks, manta rays, and sperm whales.
Through his photography, Kaush creates a stronger connection between people and the species and ecosystems that can often feel distant or unfamiliar. His images celebrate the ocean’s beauty while also highlighting the challenges facing marine life and the importance of protecting the places they depend on.
At the heart of Kaush’s work is a belief that creativity can be a powerful tool for conservation. By pairing scientific knowledge with compelling imagery, he makes conservation stories more accessible and gives people a reason to look closer, learn more, and care. As a CORAL Ambassador, Kaush brings that approach to coral reef conservation, using his work to inspire curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the ocean.
