Maui Nui Field Tech
Mihana combines a deep-rooted connection to Maui with a strong passion for ocean conservation as the Maui Nui Field Technician for CORAL. Raised in Lahaina, Maui, Mihana has firsthand experience with the environmental challenges facing Hawaii’s coastal ecosystems. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Boise State University and brings valuable local knowledge to her role. In addition to her academic background, Mihana has actively contributed to conservation efforts through several volunteer projects, including planting native Hawaiian species to reduce sediment runoff into the ocean with Mauna Kahalawai Watershed, removing invasive species with Hawaii Land Trust, and serving as a marine naturalist for the Save Honolua Coalition. These experiences have deepened her understanding of how land-based activities impact the marine environment and fueled her commitment to protecting coral reefs. Excited to embark on a career in conservation, Mihana is passionate about integrating actionable science with indigenous knowledge to create sustainable, community-based solutions that honor both the land and sea.
